ICE and iGB Affiliate networking events take place several times every year. The largest annual gaming conferences occur in Barcelona, so the Pokies Bet team decided to attend the event that took place between 20 – 23 January 2025, at Fira Gran Via.
I had previously attended ICE & iGB Affiliate events in 2022 and 2023, during the early stages of our website. The scale of the event was at a whole new level in 2025 – over 8000 gaming professionals attended iGB Affiliate this year, with even more featuring their products in ICE.
Casino operators and affiliates shared a single venue, while ICE featured software, gaming providers, payment distributors, regulators, and more gaming service providers across four smaller halls.
What amazed me the most were the massive stands set up by major gaming providers like Evolution and Pragmatic Play. Both companies showcased their latest games and invited visitors to try them out and interact with their products. Other providers with massive displays and stands were Relax Gaming, Yggdrasil, and Habanero. Land-based casino developers Aristocrat and Novomatic stole the stage by featuring 20+ land-based pokies machines each, including Lightning Link pokies and classics like Cleopatra.
On the affiliate side, I met with the biggest casino operators that we work with to discuss their future plans and what they have in store for players. This will hugely benefit Aussie casino sites that run on this software to operate without issues.
From the discussions I had with partners and online casino brands looking to launch Down Under, what concerned me was that more and more gaming developers restrict access to their titles in Australia. Even though new gaming studios emerge often, many popular pokies might become inaccessible in the future. Thankfully, BGaming, Pragmatic, and other staples of the iGaming world are still swinging.
Most of the talks and presentations focused on employee training and how to manage affiliate businesses and had less to do with the industry as a whole.
